Broken promises are ok
I just noticed the posts lately have been few and far apart here - even if i promised myself to write most days as a goal for 2026.
The reasons (excuses?) for the slow down are many:
- loss of interest in the shiny new thing (the blog)
- spring and summer in full swing demand of you to enjoy the sunny days while they are there (literally and figuratively)
- the internal monologue had no breathing room (days got very busy lately)
- overall, looking back, to few months ago, I’m happier and less in need of that dopamine hit from posting something (again seasonality has a big impact here)
I guess the tl;dr is that ” there is a season for everything” and for blogging that season is autumn and winter, for me.
Back to the self-promise that I broke, I’m not writing most days anymore, I think it’s ok (self-bias much right!?) because what is a self-promise if not current you wanting a better future for yourself or others? / And if you end up in a better future, because of or instead of the promise you made, and knowing that promise will start making your present and future worse, isn’t it better to break that promise?
I think so.
Long winded way to say that with regards to sustained daily blogging: “ain’t nobody got time for that!”
