Disneyland handcrafted (2026)
Three things stand out in this 80 min documentary on the making of the original Disneyland in California:
Seems half the scenes are recreations with miniatures and then the camera moves and people are driving around huge construction machines, weird - b/w film stock colouring is still uncanny but appreciated
10 months to build it seems impossible, maybe it was 12, regardless, incomprehensible by today’s standards
Baby boomers visited, or dreamed to, and got turned into the most hated generation in living memory
Worth just for the footage, could be a silent movie and would work just as well, if not better.
