PSA: hidden blog posts are still visible on the RSS feed (use Pages instead)
UPDATE Feb 5: Herman nicely reached out giving some helpful advice - I hope he doesn't mind me sharing it out here for everyone:
[…] While it is true that if you publish a post it will show up on your RSS feed, pages and future dated posts do not, since they're not part of the post reel.
So if you don't want something public it's better to use pages instead of posts :)
So there you have it, use Pages people! Also very nice of Herman to reach out directly, it’s the little things, right?
As the title says: if you hide a blog post in bearblog, so it is not part of the search / trending part of the site, that post is still pushed out to everyone that subscribe to your blog via RSS.
Might be obvious for some, but I noticed in my RSS readers few posts that probably were meant to stay private…
If you want to keep a post private I believe you can password protect it, I have never tried and, like paywalls, there are ways around it anyway.
If a post is truly for your eyes only, best thing is to keep it offline (remember pen and paper? No? Remeber text files? Yes?), second best thing is keep it in draft/unpublished forever.
