When you have an AI shaped hammer…
… everything will be an AI shaped nail.
I have to be honest, I haven’t fully read How AI Destroys Institutions but I read just enough to know I don’t want to read more of it and to see how all things that are allegedly AI destroying the social fabric of our existence, seem to be the continuation, yes with AI, of trends and forces active for a long time, decades and decades of drip drip drip dropping into disarray and chaos.
AI might accelerate what seems to be a well established trend, but the trend is established.
So why even publish it?
Justifying some grant? Maybe. Trying to impress people at dinner parties? Probably.
No one would read their moralistic vacuities if they didn’t follow the grand narrative, so here we are, oh well, don’t waste your time on it, it’s the worst a think piece can ever be: bland.
