It was never the case
interesting take on the Epstein files from Iqra Files (subscribed to the RSS, down let me down now) I believe we might agree on few things, and my expectation of an awakening in the 30s might share a lot of common background.
One passage struck me as miscalculated:
The mantra that journalism safeguards democratic regimes now reads, like so much else, as a complete lie designed to sedate the masses. Since the War on Terror, the American-led global empire has operated as a kind of hyper dysfunctional Soviet clone: oligarchic power, billions if not more "misplaced" in defence spending with a clattering succession of failed Pentagon audits, hyper-financialism, and Big Tech all of which sit beyond reproach immune to populist outrage, public unrest.
Bravo! Yes, we are in agreement on that general point, but it’s the since that doesn’t sit well with me, as if there ever was a time when, what we got sold as Democracy (capital D and all), wasn’t more than the latest form of aristocracy playing power games.
As if the Founding Fathers & Co. weren’t rich white slave-and-or-land owning men that confided in a government and judgement by their peers, as long as the peers were also rich white slave-and-or-land owning men?
As if after the French put away their guillotines, the man they confided to run their country was not on a war path to conquer all of Europe, a Corsican… monsieur Napoleon I believe?1
As if the real history, from then to now and beyond, is not an endless affair of little grabby hands, taking from the many to the give the few, a reverse Robin Hood, while the many are hypnotised by great words into doing their bidding?2
The star-y eyes enchantment the word democracy, pardon, Democracy, evokes is another one of those dogmas the Modern Man cannot live without, never a doubt it is, not only the worst form of Government except for all those other forms that have been tried3, but maybe a failing form of social control too.
We hear plenty of how extra-ordinary our Western form of government is, how so many other parts of the world govern themselves, to this day, with other forms of consensus building, and yet, never a doubt in our heart we are on the wrong side of history, why is that?
Yes, the Epstein files will pass, and truly horrible people will go unnoticed and untouched4, but that hope, that fleeting flame keeping your heart warm that we can fix this, that’s your forever cage, the door is open, are you fool enough to leave? It’s cold outside.
Some other short guy tried again and was an even bigger and faster disaster. Now the bureaucrats are trying… maybe the Europeans are best left separated into their own little boxes, how’s that for a revolutionary thought?↩

I’m talking about the handlers of that blackmail material too, Epstein’s bosses, who are they? Funny how they never enter the consersation eh? We are to believe he was doing all of that, and running all that risk, because of what exactly?↩
